Math Competitions

We equip students with the essential skills to participate in top-tier mathematics competitions.

Happy Math Learning Center hosts numerous contests throughout the year. Choose a contest you wish your child to participate in from the options below.

1. The Waterloo Mathematics Contests (Grade 5 – Grade 12)
Also Known as the Canadian Mathematics Competition, the Waterloo Math Contests is a series of contests developed by University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing. The contests are geared towards students from Grade 7 to Grade 12 and are named according to the different levels: the Grade 7 and 8 is known as the Gauss Contest; Grade 9, Pascal; Grade 10, Cayley; Grade 11, Fermat; and Grade 12, Euclid.

2. Mathematica Centrum (Grade 3 – Grade 7)

5. Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS Grade 4 – Grade 6,Grade 6 – 8)
Learning to solve problems is the underlying reason for studying mathematics. It is the principal mathematical skill that needs to be developed in children. Exposure to challenging problems, interesting puzzles, and the associated rich mathematical topics are essential for the development of problem-solving skills.
The objectives of MOEMS® are to teach multiple strategies for out-of-the-box problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility in solving those problems, and foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity.

6. Math League (Grade 3 – Grade 9)
Math League is a math competition for elementary, middle, and high school students in the United States, Canada, and other countries. Math contests give students an educationally enriching opportunity to participate in an academically oriented activity and to gain recognition for mathematical achievement. The main goal is educational: we promote enjoyment and study of mathematics by organizing contests for Grades 4-12.
